5 Facebook Tips

16 10 2009

Facebook is the biggest social networking site on the web, with over 300 million active people monthly.

This means that it should be perfect for your business to use it to grow and expand.

This, to a certain extent, is true. There are many different reasons why businesses who do promote themselves on networking sites prefer Facebook. The obvious reason is the sheer number of people using it. Another one would be that it is a bit like your own web page, although it is no where near as customizable, and there is potential for a lot more people to see it.

Below are some tips for optimizing your use of Facebook as a marketing tool;

  1. Post updates all the time. There is nothing worse than having a visitor on your page and them seeing that you update once a month. This is of no interest to them; they want a page that is updated regularly
  2. In relation to 1. above, post free advice (to a certain extent!) that will help the people reading it.
  3. As I said in my previous post, Twitter Tips and Tricks, it is important to establish yourself as an expert on social networking sites.
  4. When you first start out, you won’t get a lot of fans. Don’t let this put you off the idea of Facebook; everyone starts out slow. Once word of mouth starts to run, you will see the number of Fans you have shoot up.
  5. Make sure all your updates include a link to your website; don’t forget, one of the main reasons for using sites such as Facebook is to re-direct the traffic to your site.

Bonus tip – use an application such as my html to spice up your page a bit – Visitors will be a lot more intrigued if your page is different than others.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any other tips you would like to share with other readers of this blog, please leave a comment. Speak next time!
